Although located in Deux-Sevres, Nueil-Aubiers is located on the border of Maine-et-Loire and Vendée, not far from Vienna.
This region is part of what was called "the Vendée", instead of violent clashes after the French Revolution between the royalist Chouans and the republican army. Many traditions, including religious, find their origin in this period and continue to this day.
You can taste the traditional mogette and several types of goat cheese.
