Municipality of Finistère, in Brittany, Plouénan takes place about a hundred kilometers from Quimper, in the heart of the Pays de Léon. It is located on the banks of the Penzé, not far from Mespaul, Saint-Pol-de-Léon and Carantec.
Populated since prehistoric times, the territory of Plouénan developed in the Middle Ages, notably with the founding of its parish in the 11th century. However, it was not until the 19th century and the arrival of the railway line between Morlaix and Roscoff for the town to really take off its economic development, in particular thanks to the organization of much appreciated horse races.
Today, the Breton city continues to attract visitors with its unique charm, but also with its architectural heritage made up of old mansions, witnesses to the wealth of the town over the centuries.
