Former residence of Antoine Barnave, politician of Grenoble decapitated during the French Revolution, the Barnave house dates from the XVIIIe century. Country house with the dauphinoise roof, it constitutes an old strong house of the Cotter. The building now houses one of the city's libraries.

Several other castles take place on the territory of the commune of Saint-Égrève, like that of Muret, that of the Tourelle at the end of the 17th century, that of Rocheplaine at the end of the 18th century or the castle Borel which today houses the town hall. Built at the beginning of the 18th century, it was completely transformed in the early 1910s to modernize.

The Parc Naturel Régional de Chartreuse opens its doors wide and allows you to go on many hikes to discover the local fauna and flora. Verte, the commune was also awarded two flowers in the competition of towns and villages in bloom in France, especially for the many parks present at Saint-Égrève.
