Located at Saint-Malo, in Ille-et-Vilaine, the Malouinière du Puits Sauvage is a former home of privateers and shipowners from Saint-Malo built in the middle of the 18th century on the remains of an old 15th century manor. Listed as a Historic Monument and quite austere in appearance, it is especially worth a detour for its garden which regained its original appearance at the end of the 1990s.
It is thus possible to discover a French-style garden with boxwood and bower supplemented by an ornamental terrace, a vegetable patch, an orchard and a farmyard. It has an impressive collection of 800 species of cacti and succulents, some of which were brought back to France in the 19th century. In a huge glass roof, visitors can admire these plants native to South America, Australia or Africa.
