Pleasantly located on the edge of the Domaine national de Saint-Cloud, the town of Sèvres has been home to an interesting ceramics museum since the 19th century. Created by Alexandre Brongniart, it presents very fine collections of unique pieces, notably from the historic Manufacture de Sèvres founded during the reign of Louis XV.
The Ceramics Museum reveals to its visitors more than 55,000 pieces from the Middle Ages to the present day from all over the world. East and West reveal their beauties, with a good part given to the collections of European earthenware and porcelain.
The site also regularly hosts temporary thematic exhibitions to present the works of contemporary creators. It is also possible to discover the porcelain production workshops of Sèvres or to learn about ceramic techniques via painting and modeling workshops.
Guided tours possible.
