Commune of Yonne, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, Thorigny-sur-Oreuse results from the merger of three old boroughs: Thorigny, Fleurigny and Saint-Martin-sur-Oreuse. It is located in the Champagne Sénonaise, about fifteen kilometers from Sens.
Occupied since antiquity, as evidenced by the pre-Roman burials found on the spot, the town of Thorigny-sur-Oreuse developed in the twelfth century, on the course of the border separating the royal domain of the Sovereign and the county of Champagne. Under the Consulate and the First Empire, the city developed an important activity tile, brick and masonry before becoming the tourist town that it is today.
Thorigny-sur-Oreuse remains appreciated for its important architectural and historical heritage, as well as for its proximity to the medieval town of Sens.
