Labeled Museum of France, the museum Henri Barré is installed since 1920 in a mansion, built in the nineteenth century, by the doctor of the same name. The neo-Gothic building, built in 1862 in the heart of a historic district of the city, has retained some of its interior decor and collector's house charm.
The very diverse collections, spread over three levels, bring together several themes. French earthenware (Nevers, Moustiers, Rouen...) and foreign (Delft, Faënza...) fine arts, furniture coexist in the very special atmosphere of cabinets of curiosities. Through the presentation of archaeological and ethnographic collections, visit the museum Henri Barré, it is also discover Thouars and the Thouarsais Country over the ages.
A true living cultural site, the museum Henri Barré offers, from April to October, a program of varied animations. Temporary exhibitions, national events and other events (for young and old) are also an opportunity to discover places and collections.
