The International Games Festival has taken place at the Cannes Festival and Convention Centre (Palais des Festivals et des Congrès) every year since 1987. Many gaming competitions are held at this event. A jury of amateurs and professionals rates hundreds of freely accessible board games, and gives the "Golden Ace" award to the best game of the year. There are meetings with game authors, illustrators and publishers, featuring demonstrations, signings and tournaments.
