Created in 2003 as an initiative by the City of Tours, Vitiloire is a totally free popular event designed to promote and raise awareness of the Loire Valley wines. It takes place every year during the last weekend in May.
Set in the heart of Tours, VitiLoire offers visitors a producers' and crafts village, cookery demonstrations with top chefs, a market, millésimé wine bars, big dinner parties with dancing, a wine bookshop, walks or cycle rides through the vineyards and workshops to learn about the 70 or so AOCs that make up the vineyard. Over 150 winegrowers will be there to represent the diversity of the Loire Valley's terroirs and grape varieties, and give the public a chance to sample their products.
