These famous aniseed sweets are made in Côte-d'Or, in Flavigny-sur-Ozerain to be specific. This village is the world capital for such confectionery, and the recipe has remained unchanged since 1591! To make the sweets, the aniseed is wrapped in thin layers of syrup and delicately flavoured, producing an instantly recognisable taste.
The Anis de Flavigny factory is located within the old Benedictine abbey. If you pay it a visit, you can not only appreciate the attractions of this historic monument, but also discover the sweet-making workshop with its large copper pans in which the sweets are made. Not forgetting a delicious treat: tasting the various flavours of Anis!
The charming little museum, also in the abbey, tells the story of this famous sweet made in Burgundy.
