It is in the little Lorraine town of Commercy, in the heart of Meuse, that these famous traditional madeleines are made, which were once so much enjoyed by the illustrious writer, Marcel Proust.

This little shell-shaped cake, made with eggs, was invented in the 18th century in the kitchen of King Stanislas' castle, and it continues to make Commercy famous. The guided tours and tastings organised by the two factories in the town will delight food-lovers…
