In the North of the Tarn, the Gaillac vineyard extends over 2,500 hectares. This renowned vineyard produces white, red and rosé wines. The main Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) wines are Gaillac Blanc Sec, Gaillac Doux, Gaillac Fraîcheur Perlée, Gaillac Mousseux, Gaillac Rosé, Gaillac Rouge and Gaillac Rouge Primeur.
The waymarked Route des Vins wine trail is a great way to discover Gaillac's wine-growing heritage. Saint-Michel abbey on the edge of the Tarn river in the town of Gaillac is home to the Maison des Vins wine centre.
