Anne de Beaujeu walk

The departure is from the abbey of Chantelle. Park in the village and reach the abbey on foot (400 m).

1. In front of the entrance to the abbey, go down into the gorges via the small road (on the left, the Grand Moulin, the abbey's former mill). Arrive at the Moulin des Pierres, leave the grassy path on the right and cross the footbridge above the Bouble. Continue left on the other bank along a metal ramp.

2. Leave the return path on the left which leads into a poplar grove, then a path on the left and continue the steep climb to the right. Take the D 282 on the left (panorama of Chantelle and its abbey, with Puy de Dôme on the horizon) for 600 m.

3. Turn left, pass next to the Deneuille town hall and, at the crow's foot, take the path on the right (panorama of the Monts de la Madeleine, the Puy de Montoncel, the Charroux plateau, the Auvergne volcanoes and the Colettes massif) for 1 km, reach the left bank of the Bouble, towards the Baron mill lock, then arrive at a ford. Possibility of returning to Chantelle by crossing the ford of large stones.

4. Climb the small staircase on the left and continue on the left bank for 800 m (on the other bank, discover the silhouette of the Baron mill - and its ford of large stones which also allows you to return to Chantelle - then find that of the Grand Moulin). Leave a path that goes up to the left and cross a small poplar grove on the right. Returning to point no. 2, head right, cross the footbridge again and, via the route used on the way out, reach the abbey.
