Black Wood Tour

Hikes & walks in Valdeblore

This shaded course under the fir trees and spruces of the "Black Wood" is essential on days of strong heat. You will discover the various riches of the forest, from the flowerbeds of wild strawberries in July to the raspberry bushes in August. Autumn favors the picking of mushrooms (lactarians, cranberries) while winter is destined for these cold and secret regions to cross-country skiers from La Colmiane. The very active logging in this production forest can force the walker to the strict respect of the regulation in certain parcels (to read the panels).

Itinerary

From the church square (b.76), follow the GR5 that is soon leaving (b.75) for the path that runs flank towards the valley of Lavanchier, normally dry. We enter imperceptibly into a sparse larch tree. Then climb in the Black Wood to the level of the bottom runway (1430 m - b.96); cross it and climb a rather steep wooden pull (1536 m - b.124). Turn right to go down a good path to the ski slope. Follow it on the left to the collar of Puei (b.125, 126) where you cross the road to Serena (forest house). Diving by a good path on a wooded ridge to find soon the road (b.137) that follows to the right until a characteristic lace (1082 m - b.136). Go up towards Saint-Dalmas by the GR52A along the Bramafam valley.
