Eurovélo 4 - Sum 80 - Outing in Quend

Depart from the town of Quend, latitude 50.3434000 (N 50° 20’ 36”), longitude 1.6429900 (E 1° 38’ 35”)

This point is an ideal starting point to traverse the EV4 in the somme department. A car park is located at this location and the first signs indicate the direction to follow for the EV4 but also the distances of the communes.

On the portion between the Belle Dune roundabout and the entrance to Quend, the landscaped path is badly damaged. It is normally intended for pedestrians and not recommended for bicycles.

On your way south, you take the bike path that runs through the pine trees and you can drive on the same pavement to the Parc du Marquenterre.

At the entrance to the Marquenterre Park, the bike path continues northward. Heading south, you have to hit the road.
You can access the Marquenterre park by bicycle, a specific parking lot is provided.

Section change. Continuing north, the bike path is interrupted, we continue the route on a shared route. To the south, the bike path runs along the so-called "La Bassée" with a view of a slightly flooded low-field landscape with beautiful populations of birds and Henson horses in the background.

Strategic point of the EV4 route.
In the north-south direction: at this point it is possible to cycle (or walk) to Le Crotoy, first follow The Rue des Tamaris and then turn right along the children's playground to follow the. Then follow Victor Petit Street and then climb The Lighthouse Street. A stop is required for a view of the bay. Then continue on Rue Pierre Guerlain, rue de la Mer and then to the right church street and Quai Leonard. Then follow the harbour to the large locks and stay on the of the Crotoy flushing basin. You can pick up the EV4 at point 6.
In the south-north direction, at this point, you take the bike path called "La Bassée" with a very natural view of the marsh, the birds and the Henson horses that take care of the maintenance!

The Crotoy Hunting Basin serves as a flush to make it easier for Crotoy boats to leave the harbour.
In the north-south direction, go under the road to continue the route by the bike path.
In the south-north direction, you can, if you wish, continue on the of the basin and cross the Crotoy, following first the port, then the street from the bridge gate then victor Petit Street and finally the Jules Noiret dike. At the end of the, continue on Tamaris Street and resume the route at point 5.

The recommended passage to cross the Somme is made by returning slightly to Saint-Valery-sur-Somme.
We must be particularly careful because the passage of the locks is adjoining car, small train of the Somme Bay, pedestrians and cyclists. It is recommended to get on the ground.
We advise you to make a stop in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme. It is a must-see tourist resort in the Somme Bay.
If you are on ATV or VTC, we recommend the following route:
In the north-south direction: continue on Battle Street and then follow the platform to the end. Arriving at the end of the wharf, follow the cliff by the way to the place called Cape Hornu. In the parking lot of Cape Hornu, continue on the way down the road and continue along the so-called "dead" cliff. Join the route at point 9.
In the south-north direction: at this point, cross the locks and resume the route to the right. A round trip to the Saint-Valery-sur-Somme lighthouse will give you a beautiful view of the bay.

In the north-south direction, you arrive from Saint-Valery from Cape Hornu following the dead cliff, cross the road and resume the bike path towards the Hourdel.
In the south-north direction, it is possible to leave the bike path: cross the road and take the path that runs along the so-called "dead" cliff. At Cape Hornu, continue along the way at the foot of the cliff. Then continue on the wharf and walk along the entire city at the water's edge. Then cross the locks to resume the route at point 8.

The Hourdel Lighthouse is an emblematic place in the Somme Bay. It is from here that seals can be seen. A small fishing port is also located there.
In the north-south direction, follow the directions and head for the white road. Recently developed, it is a bike route on its own site that takes you to Cayeux-sur-Mer.
In the south-north direction, arrive at the Hourdel, at the crossroads, the bike path is opposite. Turn right to head back to Saint-Valery-sur-Somme but don't hesitate to make the detour at the foot of the lighthouse!
