Henri, an inhabitant of Bastit, greatly contributed to the development of this path which today bears his name.

Sheep farming has strongly influenced the development of the Causses du Quercy. Thus, the low walls, the caselles and the gariottes which structure the landscapes, are the witnesses of this pastoral history. Main player in the maintenance of dry lawns and undergrowth courses, sheep farming is still the dominant agricultural activity here.

Discover the heritage of this circuit with a treasure hunt on the "Baludik" App and with the 298m leaflet downloadable from the Parc des Causses du Quercy website.

Circuit accessible by mountain bike.

Itinerary

A legendary quest awaits! A curse has struck the caussenardes, the sheep of the causse which never stop bleating every night. An ancient legend has it that only a hammer can appease them. Accompany Henri, an inhabitant of Bastit, and Poppie, a young Caussenarde with remarkable flair, to meet the beings of nature who will help you locate the hammer.

From the Park departure panel, cross the road (D807) and immediately turn right. Pass in front of the Templar Commandery (the Clos du Chevalier) and continue to the right (majestic tree on the left before the Calvary) leaving the church on your left. Turn into the second street on the left, then immediately downhill, on the right. Continue straight on the path which leads you to a well surrounded by a beautiful dry stone wall.

Make a U-turn and immediately take the small path to the right which brings you, after 150 m, to a road. Go right and arrive at the Calvary, again to the right. Continue along the fields which bear witness to a long landscape evolution. At the tarmac road, continue straight. Take the first road on the right. Cross the D807 and take the track opposite towards Lake Mège.

Before the lake, at the crossroads, possible return trip to the right to a cruck barn at 200 m.

At the lake, continue on the path bordered by dry stone walls. 1 km further, leave a first path on the right before taking the next 300 m further. Between low walls, it quickly leads you to Pouzalgues lake (on the left, a sheep count, low stone passage). Continue by closing the fences. At the next intersection, continue straight (possibility of discovering the Fondvieille well 300 m on the right).

Walk along a photovoltaic farm then dry lawns.

At the first intersection turn right on the path. Join the asphalt road.

Take the first road on the right, leave the right fork to continue straight into the dry valley.

Just before joining the D807 turn left to take the path that runs alongside it and brings you back to your starting point at the town hall.
