Hiking the Stone which turns

Depart from the town of Dortan, latitude 46.3185460 (N 46° 19’ 7”), longitude 5.6596860 (E 5° 39’ 35”)

• Dortan

• From the Place de la Mairie, follow rue Principale towards Oyonnax.
• After Merdançon bridge, take rue Neuve on the right, go up the rue de l'Etang for 30 m, then take the path on the left.

• At the top, cross the rue de la Léchère, go up the Maissiat road to Bellevue street, turn right, cross the bridge over Maissiat creek and turn left. Straight, to win Maissiat-d'en-Bas
• In the hamlet, take the road on the right between the houses for a few meters, then turn left, stone walls, on the wide shaded road which rises in spurts, serves meadows, and reaches a reservoir. - Continue along the path that leads to a clearing. Point of view on the cluse of Lower Biel, between Dortan and Chancia).
• The Stone That Turns

• At the junction, climb the path to the right up to the Stone which turns into a ridge line (at the first flat, point of view to the east on Bienne, Dortan and the wood of Sièges) and Pierre qui Vire.
• > Access to the point of view of Pierre Vire (2 mn return, caution, view of Lake Coiselet, at the confluence of Bienne and Ain at the foot of Mollard de Nétru, on the village of Condes and on the peak of Oliferne to the west).

• From La Pierre qui Vire, turn left on the trail that winds through the boxwood forest (used to make the chess games that Dortan was the French capital) and reach a collar.
• Go down the path on the left which, after having widened, (curve on the left, big thinning) joins the forking.
