The hermitage of Notre-Dame de la Pene is an old medieval castle built to monitor the valley of Agly. It is at the summit of Rodon Peak, 335 meters above sea level. You can admire a magnificent view over the plain. And on a clear day, you will see the sea!

From Fenouillet take the D9 direction Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes, then take the D117 direction Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet to Perpignan. You will pass by the villages Maury, Estagel and Cases de Pène. Before reaching the village of Cases de Pène, less than a kilometer up your head, you will see the hermitage. Stop at the car park below, next to the factory.
Near the car park next to the factory, take the path that will lead you to the hermitage located on a cliff overlooking Boxes de Pène. In case you want to extend the ride, many paths can be taken from the hermitage.
