Arnage is a commune in the Sarthe in Pays de la Loire. It is located at the exit of Le Mans, near the airport, in the Sarthe. According to local legend, the city would take its name from a wicked witch. The villagers have decided to get rid of it by throwing it in the Sarthe, but seeing the surface again with his powers, they cried "A'r'nage". More rationally, rather Arnage comes from the Latin, arena, which means sandy field.

Small, the town nonetheless has an interesting natural heritage and thus offers many outdoor activities. Things to see and do

Old, the city has a wealth of Arnage, modest, but very interesting. The surrounding nature also attracts many tourists throughout the year.

Only old heritage of the city, the Saint-Gilles church dates back to the twelfth century. In today bear witness Romanesque windows, a Speckled stones stack on the cob, or bearers of holes indicating the presence of scaffolding at the time. Renovated in the nineteenth century, she has seen many changes take place with the installation of a bell tower, and numerous extensions.

Classified as an historic monument, Jacques de Monceaux funerary inscription, deceased former royal notary in 1644, comes in the form of a copper plate engraved and set in tufa stone.

Today private property, the home of the family Bollee can however admire the towpath. The house is decorated with ponds and waterfalls and other one can still see a need for the operation of the site wind and water supply.

Arnage welcomes today one of the routes of the famous voice of freedom. Leclerc borrowed by or Patton, following the D-Day June 6, 1944, the latter is marked terminals in the emblem of the torch of freedom.

Only water level of the agglomeration of Le Mans, the Gémerie Lake covers about 14 hectares. It comes alive in summer with many activities and other events. Swimming, archery, kayaking or climbing are proposed.

Animated, the town of Arnage offers year-round cultural and sporting events.

Arnage The weekly market is held every Saturday from 8 am to 13h on the Place François Mitterrand. A Christmas market is also held at year end.

Arnage welcomes, in June, the event Arnage in the race. For 24 hours, the city offers various animations on the car, with exhibitions, car shows or the presence of automobiles local clubs.

Created in 2002, the BD Mania festival takes place every year in November. It is thus possible to attend exhibitions, conferences, debates, or to meet professional writers present for signings.
