Bargemon is a charming town in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, located in the Var department. Population of about 1500 inhabitants, it is north of Draguignan, 500 meters above sea level, near the Gorges du Verdon and St. Cassian.

Picturesque medieval village, Bargemon full of old monuments that recall the history of the site in the Middle Ages. Things to see and do

Bargemon has an architectural and historical heritage of the most interesting and many sights to be discovered with pleasure.

Built outside the ancient walls of the city, the Saint-Etienne church has a bell tower dating from the seventeenth century. Nearby, the chapel of Montaigu was that of the brotherhood of White Penitents. Formerly called Chapel of the Annunciation, it takes its current name in 1635 in honor of a miraculous statue of the Virgin brought from the town of Montaigu in Belgium.

Around the village, one can still point out the remains of the eleventh century ramparts. In the old center, the elements are not lacking with the gate of the former prison of the sixteenth century, the castle doors, the clock tower or closed several fountains like those Couchoire or fish, and a beautiful oil mill.

The Minerals and Fossils Museum in the center of the village and presents a beautiful collection of over 3000 pieces found in the region.

The machines of the museum offers public view an impressive collection of typewriters and calculating. Over 250 specimens are exposed some particularly rare.

Located in the former chapel of Saint-Etienne, dating from the eleventh century, the museum-gallery Camos aims to present Bargemon of history by its religious heritage, economy, or the painter of the town, Honoré Camos. The site also offers temporary exhibitions every month with works of contemporary artists.

Events and festivities

Bargemon, ancient city dating from the Middle Ages, regularly organizes festive events and full of joy.

Bargemon The market is held every Thursday from 8 am to 13h.

In early July, the village also offers its famous handicraft and agricultural fair with rides, musical entertainment or artisan stands.

In early August, the famous St. Stephen Bargemon with musical aperitif, boules competitions, a carnival or a ball and street entertainment.
