Commune of Center-Loire Valley located in the department of Loiret, Cepoy takes place in the Gâtinais, about five kilometers from Montargis, and about sixty kilometers from Orléans.
Seat of baillage until the XIVth century, the commune of Cepoy becomes marquisate in 1743 under the reign of Louis XV. It is also from this period that dates the current architecture of the castle of Cepoy.
Although the city has the tourist attraction of Montargis, it itself has an important historical heritage that attracts many visitors visiting the region. The various monuments that take place in Cepoy testify to the richness of this city of character, as well as its importance over the centuries. Calm and preserved, this town of Loiret is a perfect place to spend pleasant holidays in the heart of this region inscribed on the world heritage of UNESCO.
Built between the 11th and 12th centuries, the Saint-Loup church was completely restored in the 19th century. Inscribed in the supplementary inventory of Historical Monuments, it hosts within it two polychrome wooden statues of Saint Roch and Saint Loup dating from the seventeenth century and classified as Historic Monuments.
Also listed in the supplementary inventory of Historical Monuments, the old house of the General Manager of the canals of Orleans and the Loing dates from the end of the 17th century. Full of charm, the building now houses the hostel of the city.
The prehistoric deposit of Pierre-aux-Fées dates from the Upper Palaeolithic. The site, registered in the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments, extends over more than 2,000 meters, at the place of the Grosse-Pierre.
The castle of Cepoy dates from the end of the 17th century. It was rebuilt on the remains of the original building destroyed in the middle of the fourteenth century during the Hundred Years War.
As you walk through Cepoy and its surroundings, you will be able to admire the mill of the Lock of the XVIth century and the mill Nine of the XIXe century, or the working city built by the architects Raguenet and Maillard.
Several natural sites allow you to walk in good weather or to enjoy many outdoor activities such as the forest of Montargis or the banks of the Loing. The first, composed mainly of birches, charms or scots pines, reveals three natural areas of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest.
The Cotame, a triathlon of the soul, is held every year at the end of April.
A boating festival is organized by the Nautic club in May.
In September, the festival of Saint-Loup offers for two days, a garage sale, rides or even different animations.
