Crotelles of the 10th century Villa Croteldi became the eleventh, fourteenth Crotellio then Croteil in 1493 to become Crottet from 1613, the village has changed over the centuries. From a totally rural village until the post-war Crottet is now the archetypal village rurban. Until the late 1970s, he had to follow the herd every night, from the prairie, joined the stables of the village. The expedition lasted over half an hour between the junction of Ormet and the church, but this quickly evaporated transhumance daily at the rate of mutation of agriculture. Many farmers have retired and their successors in moving herds of cattle trucks. It remains only five farms in about 1750 inhabitants and 1212 acres of surface. The population has found other sources of income, either in one of the forty companies Crottet or in jobs in industry, services and administration to Macon.

The town stretches from the Saone, with the Saint Laurent once called home resident Reissier where a hundred people, to Pont-de-Veyle along the Veyle, its southern boundary, nearly 7 km. The district Chavannes, flooded regularly by both the Saône by the Veyle is the junction of the TGV and SNCF Macon town. The prairie, field flooding of the Saone, covers nearly a third of the town and is protected by the Natura 2000. A peculiarity of the town of Crottet is its location.

The village is bordered by three major routes which form a triangle in a north - south the county 28 of the cross Bage to Pont-de-Veyle in a south east - west road 933 from Pont-de-Veyle Replonges to and in the east - west National Road 79 to the cross to Replonges Bage. Within this triangle you discover the village of Crottet. On both sides of the main street you will see the church dedicated to Saint Paul, the hall facing it, school, town hall and library.

Not far from the center to the east along the county 28, at a place called the quarry, a vast space is dedicated to sport, two tennis open, two indoor tennis courts, skateboard park, a plateau of evolution for the basketball and handball, track speed and a set of balls. Many trails in the framework of a community of communes de Pont-de-Veyle allow hikers to discover the grove Bressan. North along the highway 79, you can play golf (18 holes). This golf course is set in the castle of Aumusse including a chapel adjoining part of the ancient priory of the Knights Templar.

The story is modestly presents Crottet, besides the chapel, a fortified farm Genod along secondary road 28, deserves attention. In town, a portal dating from the 16th century was the entry of an ancient monastery. Finally, you can relax at the mill Thurignat, one of the countless mills that lined the course of Veyle the time when the millers were using water power.
