Historically in Alsace, this town of the Lower Rhine is not far from Strasbourg, Lingolsheim or Holtzheim.
The city is named after the Germanic heim Eckibald and suffix, meaning literally, the abode of the bold knowing swordsmanship. Inhabited since the Neolithic era, the site is very old and full of history. Mainly oriented agriculture, the town of Eckbolsheim also experiencing a tourist boom in the twentieth century, thanks to its colorful and traditional architecture. The scenery surrounding the city are not lacking either charming including the banks of the Bruche or the lake, near Lingolsheim.
