Located in the heart of the Oise, the city of Lamorlaye is located at the junction with the Île-de-France. Located thirty kilometers from Paris, Chantilly forest, the town reveals a flamboyant nature through green areas of great importance.
Known since prehistoric times, Lamorlaye owes its name to the Merovingian who named the place, Morlacca. Today known as the paradise of the horse, the city experienced a major expansion with the development of horseracing, especially in Chantilly, the next town. Lovers of equestrian sports can discover the equestrian center or attending some sporting events.
But Lamorlaye is also an architectural heritage of great importance that reflects a rich and ancient history. The lords who succeeded on the field have left their mark over the centuries.

The Church of St. Nicolas, completely destroyed in the late eighteenth century, was rebuilt in the following century. However, one can still admire some ancient relics, like a Virgin of the early fifteenth century Annunciation, or a part of the choir that dates from the end of that century. If the styles are strongly formed there, we still note the dominance of neo-Romanesque.
If the first Lamorlaye Castle was built in the thirteenth century, the current is more recent, revealing several architectural changes, especially during the nineteenth century. Now owned by the municipality of the town, it can be visited from the inside, but reveals a beautiful English park where an old orangery can be admired.
Also located in Lamorlaye the manor Wood Larris, also called Villa Tournebride, was built in the early 1910. Anglo-Norman style, it belonged to the family Menier chocolate.
Post French Revolution, the current St. Vaast chapel is located in the hamlet of Lys, the town behind Lamorlaye. Now closed to the public due to its significant state of disrepair, the building can still be admired from the outside.
If Lamorlaye does not have racetracks like its neighbor, Chantilly, this city still the renowned stables.
