Town-gate of the Regional Natural Park of French Vexin, Limay takes place in Île-de-France, in the department of Yvelines. Located on the Seine, the town is located opposite Mantes-la-Jolie, about fifty kilometers from Paris.
Inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by various remains and other tools found on site, the territory of Limay developed shortly before the Roman conquest and the Middle Ages, with the construction of a monastery of Celestins destroyed during the French Revolution.
Even today, Limay unveils a charming architectural and historical heritage that testifies to the long human presence on its territory. Its proximity to the most beautiful sites of Yvelines or Normandy also gives it an important and regular tourist activity.
Classified for Historical Monuments, the Saint-Aubin church dates, for its oldest parts, from the first half of the 12th century. One can admire an old choir of late Romanesque style, as well as many elements of the thirteenth century Gothic style, like the whole vaulted warheads, double nave or choir-hall square.
