Montivilliers

Montivilliers Abbey is one of the finest and most prestigious abbeys of Normandy.

Fully restored, it is distinguished by its scenic route audio guided: "Heart of Abbeys." Unique in Normandy, it allows everyone to discover the fate eventful "City of abbesses" in medieval Normandy. The staging also demonstrates the important role of monasteries in the region's history and their great architectural evolution.

Cultural and tourist hub, the site also offers a range of tours, lectures and animations as well as thematic exhibitions to discover throughout the year.

La Promenade de l'Abbaye, audio-guided walking tour in the old town of Montivilliers retraces the life in medieval times through the rich heritage montivillon: hallettes, Hôtel-Dieu and former grave of the 15th century - known as aster of Brisgaret of - among others.

Sunday from the Abbey together under the same appellation offer themed tours held every first Sunday of the month: religious architecture and civil universe monastic life in the Middle Ages ... all angles covered about unusual form of guided tours classic but also through practical workshops for the whole family.

• In this Olympic year, the famous Cavalcade Montivillonne returns with a new edition ! The Lycée Jean Prévost sports association is once again organizing the semi-urban trail that has already thrilled runners and locals alike. - Open to all runners, amateur or experienced, the Cavalcade Montivillonne is the ideal opportunity to challenge yourself and enjoy an exceptional course through the streets of the town and its natural areas such as the Colmoulins woods and the new Parc-Jardin de la Sente des Rivières. - The race will take place on Friday May 31 at 7pm, with a choice of three different routes : 6 km, 12 km or a 2×6 km relay. Participants will be able to choose the distance that best suits their level and mood. - To take part in this exceptional semi-urban trail, simply register online on the Chronoboost website. - This year, a special "Olympic Games 2024" children ? S race is also being organized for children from CE2 to Cm², with a 7:05pm start over a 700 m course. The event is free of charge, and will provide an opportunity for youngsters to immerse themselves in the Olympic spirit and share a moment of conviviality and sport.

• The Alkemia vocal ensemble, originally from Le Havre, has been sharing its passion for singing since 2007. Under the direction of Thérèse Louvet (a former teacher at the Montivilliers music school), the ensemble ? S voices are heard on summer tours of Normandy ? S historic sites and beyond. While their repertoire ranges from the 16th to the 21st century, this concert takes them to Northern Europe. The vocal ensemble will perform works by Arvo Pärt, Ola Gjeilo, Edvard Grieg, Urmas Sisask and Eriks Esenvals, among others, a capella and accompanied by organ. - Open to all. - Reservations required.

• As part of the "Heritage Sundays" program. - Between June 5 and September 12,1944, Montivilliers witnessed a series of significant events. The British glider that fell on our soil, the hiding of American airmen by local Resistance fighters, German reprisal fire and the presence of Belgian and British troops in preparation for the great attack against the defenses of Le Havre are just a few examples. - Day by day, these events will be presented on the very sites where they took place. • "Le journal d'Amandus Roessler : l'aître de Brisgaret vu par un jeune havrais au XIXème siècle". - To mark the 10th anniversary of the restoration of the Brisgaret Oyster. - A personal diary is generally not intended to be seen by eyes other than those of its author. However, Le Havre's municipal library has made it possible to discover the notebooks of the young Amandus Roessler who, from 1859 to 1867, recounted his daily life and historical walks in and around the city of Le Havre, making his diary a valuable source of information. - Amandus dreamed of becoming an archaeologist and, together with his friend Alfred Legambier, enjoyed collecting abundant documentation and observations on the remains in the region, particularly the Brisgaret Oyster in Montivilliers, during his walks and work sessions in the library. - Illustrated with numerous pencil and pen drawings, his description of the aître is an exceptional testimony to the site's history. - Free admission.
