Commune of Normandy located in the department of Seine-Maritime, Octeville-sur-Mer, as its name suggests, takes place on the coast of the Channel Sea. It is located on the right bank of the Seine, just six kilometers from the city of Le Havre, right on the cliffs of the famous Côte d'Albâtre.
According to historians, the town of Octeville-sur-Mer takes its name from a Scandinavian settler, Otti, who came to settle here during the Viking invasions of the 10th century. Today mainly focused on tourism, it offers its visitors breathtaking landscapes, as well as an unobstructed view of the English Channel. Some historical monuments, of great architectural interest, also take place in the town, testifying to an important heritage richness.
The village is ideally located and close to main roads. It thus makes it possible to reach the cities of Le Havre, Étretat, Fécamp, Honfleur or Deauville.
Installed in the center of Octeville-sur-Mer, the Saint-Martin church reveals an architecture typical of this part of Seine-Maritime, with a red and brown brick facade. Not far away, in the hamlet of Saint-Barthélémy, the Saint-Clair chapel also stands proudly.
But it is the city's natural heritage that mainly attracts visitors to this little corner of Normandy. Several marked trails allow you to appreciate the charm of the Alabaster Coast, while you can descend to the pebble beaches via paths cut into the side of the cliff.
In the old buildings formerly occupied by NATO, an aquaculture farm has been set up, while the Cailloux farm stands at Le Croquet.
Several sports fields installed in the town allow the practice of handball, football, or even tennis and golf.
For cycling enthusiasts, the cycle path now crosses Octeville and connects the neighboring towns.
The city of Octeville-sur-Mer is very lively and is the source of many events throughout the year.
The weekly Octeville-sur-Mer market takes place every Sunday morning.
An agricultural competition is organized every year in March.
The commune has 36 associations. One of them necessarily corresponds to your center of interest. Information in Town Hall.
The town is twinned with Bourne End (England) since 2003 and Furci Siculo (Sicily). Meetings and exchanges take place every year. The twinning committee (CJO) organizes dancing activities (Night of the twinning, Afternoon dancing, New Year's Eve) and trips (California, India, South Africa, Australia, Rome, Naples, Florence, London...).
