Located in the Hôtel de Montmorency, in the 6th district of Paris, the Ernest Hébert Museum houses the works of the eponymous artist who enjoyed a certain renown in the second half of the 19th century.
A worldly portraitist, Ernest Hébert is at the origin of the decoration of the Pantheon and has twice been the director of the Académie de France in Rome. The facade of the building, listed as a Historic Monument, has suffered numerous degradations and the museum closed its doors in 2004.
