The Pasteur museum is located at 25 rue du Docteur-Roux, in the 15th arrondissement of the capital. It is integrated into the premises of the Institut Pasteur, a private institution dedicated to research and teaching in the field of biology and public health.
The museum opened in 1936 and is housed in the same apartment where Louis Pasteur lived from 1888 to 1895, the year of his death. The pieces, preserved as they are, testify to the Pasteur couple's daily life, but a room also presents original scientific instruments that trace the many discoveries of the famous scientist. The route ends with the Byzantine-inspired crypt in which Louis Pasteur and his wife rest. It is decorated with polychrome mosaics evoking the discoveries of the biologist to whom one owes in particular the vaccine against rabies.
Typical of the decorative art of the nineteenth century, the apartment teems with furniture, works of art (paintings), photographs. On the scientific level, the collections make it possible to observe a thousand pieces and objects (crystals, balloons, microscopes...).
Open all year from Monday to Friday except holidays and in August. Currently, individual visits are not allowed for security reasons. Entry: 14 euros except for students and school (7 euros). Information on +33 1 45 68 82 83.
