Rosières-près-Troyes

Tourism, holidays & weekends guide in the Aube

Charming little town in the Aube, Rosières-près-Troyes takes place at the gates of Troyes and its medieval center. It is located not far from Bréviandes, Saint-Pouange and Saint-Germain.

The history of the town seems closely linked to that of its castle. It also takes its name from the French-style rose gardens that occupied the territory of the building. Rosières-près-Troyes benefited for a long time from the economic attraction of its famous neighbour, in particular through the Champagne fairs.

Today, the city continues to seduce passing visitors with its proximity to some of the most beautiful towns in the region and its architectural heritage.

Things to see and do

Passing through Rosières-près-Troyes, do not miss to admire the traditional architecture of the houses in the city center. You can also discover the exteriors of the castle laid out by Claude Perrault, brother of the famous fairy tale writer. Originally from the 13th century, this building features buildings from the 16th century, as well as a chapel. Private property not accessible to visitors, it is listed in the additional inventory of Historic Monuments.

Now a youth hostel, the former Sainte Scholastique priory was originally linked to a charterhouse.

Don't miss the much more recent Sainte-Madeleine chapel, or the wash house on the recently restored Triffoire and the town's seven crosses.
