History Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon:

During the Gallo-Roman period, the common name Chastres and was not separated from what is now Arpajon and Norville. In the Middle Ages, "said Saint-Germain-lès-Châtres or Saint-Germain near Châtres. In the 13th century, Saint-Germain was a dependency of castellany Montlhéry. In the 16th century, the town became lord of Graville with Louis Malet de Graville, a wealthy and powerful lord named admiral of France a few years earlier. In the 18th century, it was the Noailles who made their lordship.

Finally, Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon took its current name in 1723 following the acquisition of common Châtres by Louis de Severac, Marquis of Arpajon-sur-Cere. Note that during the revolution, the village was known for fifteen months, Germinal-sur-Orge.

Things to see and do

The Chateau de Chanteloup: The mansion is Chanteloup, in the 13th century, a country house of Philip the Fair. His wife, Jeanne de Navarre, based on the land of Chanteloup, a chapel and a leper in the invocation of St. Eutropius. During the Hundred Years War, 3rd Edward of England and his son, the Black Prince, stay there and destroy the region. 5th Charles was owner, and Jean, Duc de Berry.

The parish church of Saint-Germain d'Auxerre: The present church was built from the 11th to the 16th century. The Romanesque probably dates from the late 12th century, the choir of two bays and the end of aisles are 13th century as the steeple.
