Situated in the heart of the Loire, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the town of Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle takes place in the Center-Val de Loire, in the heart of the Loiret department. It is located on the edge of Orléans, a few kilometers from Fleury-les-Aubrais or Saran.

People from the Celtic period under the name of Athos, the commune of Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle takes its current name at the time of the construction of its first church, at the beginning of the fourteenth century.

Today, the city benefits from the influence of Orleans and its historical and tourist sites located nearby. Possessing itself a modest architectural heritage, it attracts visitors every year for its proximity with some of the most beautiful places to discover in the heart of the Loire Valley Center.

Things to see and do

Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste takes place on the remains of an old building of the sixteenth century. There is a very fine 19th century organ, as well as interesting stained-glass windows.

The market is held on Wednesdays and Fridays morning.

In mid-June, the city organizes the festival Le Grand Unisson dedicated to music.

On 13 or 14 July, for the national holiday, the town organizes a ball and a fireworks display.

A Christmas market is offered in December.
