Charming village of Hautes-Pyrénées, in Occitan region Saint-Savin takes place about forty kilometers from Tarbes in the urban unit of Argelès-Gazost. Offering stunning views of the valley of Argelès, it is not far from Lau-Balagnas, Soulom and Sireix.
One that takes its name from Saint Savin, a hermit whose tomb is the main altar of the church, was mainly developed around the activities of its Abbey, one of the largest religious centers in the country of Bigorre. Today, the town continues to attract visitors with the charm of its architectural heritage as well as its geographical proximity to some of the most beautiful tourist spots in the region.
The village has particularly won over one of the greatest contemporary authors, Paulo Coelho, who quoted him in one of his novels, On the edge of the river Piedra.
