Famous for its vast ski area stretching from Briançon to Lautaret pass, Serre Chevalier resort, known locally as Serre Che, is the biggest winter sports resort in the South Alps. Located at the gateway to Écrins National Park, the valley of Serre Chevalier (or Guisane valley) is home to the towns and villages of Briançon, Chantemerle, Monêtier-les-Bains and Villeneuve, where a beautiful built heritage consisting of churches, chapels and old houses sits alongside the most modern sports facilities.
Numerous activities are on offer to holiday-makers throughout the year: rambling, mountain-biking and mountaineering in the summer, and skiing (on no fewer than 250 km of runs!), cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter.
To relax after a day of exercise, head to the spa recreation centre in Monêtier-les-Bains for its soothing and beneficial hot spring baths.
Serre Chevalier is the largest ski resort in the Southern Alps. It is located in the Guisane Valley, in the Hautes-Alpes department. Not far from the Ecrins National Park, the winter sports resort was created in 1941, taking advantage of the installation of the cable car from Chantemerle. Close to the Italian border, it has an ideal geographical location to enjoy the joys of winter sports and tourism.
The ski area of Serre Chevalier extends over the municipalities of Briançon (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Puy-Saint-Pierre, Puy-Saint-André, Saint-Chaffrey, La Salle-les- Les-Bains and Pelvoux. Its 250 kilometers of alpine ski trails have made its reputation among athletes all over the world. It is also one of the largest ski areas in Europe with no less than 410 hectares marked out.

The ski resort of Serre Chevalier offers great entertainment panel and other activities for a fulfilling holiday.
The first tourist interest Serre Chevalier remains its skiing and numerous winter sports activities. Labeled family more, the resort offers entertainment for the whole family, as well as suitable accommodation. The area extends from 1200 to 2800 meters above sea level and offers different types of slides including technical skiing. Beginners and experts find their happiness by hamlets and selected tracks. There is a space for snowboarding with a snow park and a boardercross and a Coolzone lively. There are about 35 km of trails for Nordic skiing. Also open in summer, Serre Chevalier Station provides an introduction to the bike with a bike park, some 200 kilometers of cross country trails and a BMX track.
The white water sports, climbing, hiking, swimming, or the via ferrata are also possible. Also note that Serre Chevalier home centers wellness to recover from sports days.
For a more cultural tourism, the city of Briançon offers the opportunity to admire including the Vauban fortifications listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. Visible include the city walls, forts Salettes, Heads and Randouillet and the Asfeld Bridge.
mountain chapels, churches and other religious sites also abound in the various municipalities that make up the field Serre Chevalier.
The estate also has a beautiful natural heritage that results in interesting excursions like winter, like the cascade of Piss in Saint-Chaffrey, regional nature reserve Partias to Puy-Saint-André, or even the site of the Aiguillette du Lauzet.
A Monêtier-les-Bains, it is possible to enjoy a sacred art museum with statues in polychrome wood, Aubusson tapestries or processional crosses.
Markets are held throughout the week in different hamlets that make up the Serre Chevalier station.
Entertainment is provided throughout the year with guided tours of villages, concerts on the ski slopes or sports competitions of all kinds. Note in particular the Hell J in January with various activities to thrill the Skolf Trophy in March with the installation of a temporary golf in which you go to ski, or 2000 Aravet the trophy in March with various giant slalom course.
