Villeneuve unfolds around the hilltop village overlooking the right bank of the Durance.

Located between sea and mountains, 1 hour from Marseille and Gap, near the town of 3,500 inhabitants combines modernity and quality environment. It seeks to control its growth while remaining a vibrant place that retains its identity and traditions.

The heart of the village remains the center of community life and association activities.

Villeneuve is a member of the Intercommunity Oriental Luberon (ILO), the Regional Natural Park of the Luberon, and the Pays de Haute Provence.

The town is part of the canton of Forcalquier and is located 10 km north of Manosque.

The Church:

The church was listed as a Historical Monument in 1926. Only by the asymmetry of its plans and its foothills, it is dedicated to Saint Saturnin and Saint Sebastian. It is Romanesque.
The interior walls are decorated with floral and geometric paintings dating from 1892.
The church will be expanded after the religious wars in 1598 and will take its present form during the 17th century.
It is regularly renovated: it was in 1996 that the plaster of the facade will be redone ocher, in 2000 renovated interior paints are identical and lately it's the windows that have been redone.

The Museum:

Created in July 1985 with the help of the municipality, the museum Villeneuve is managed by the association "Friends of Villeneuve 'Association law 1901 created in April 1980.
The museum contains archaeological remains collected during excavations or found by the people, objects, photographs or documents the history of the village of Villeneuve and activity of its inhabitants.
The objectives of the "Friends of Villeneuve" through the museum are to defend the heritage and environment of the village, take an inventory of excavations, to examine objects and documents and found to share and pass on this legacy.
The museum also houses a library where you can consult books and journals from local or regional publications (archeology, history, geography, ethnology ...) and which is constantly being enhanced either by purchasing new books or new discoveries.
In July 2002 the association "Friends of Villeneuve" group published a book tracing the history of the village and the lives of its inhabitants.

The Chapel of Our Lady of La Roque (XVII):

In the distance the Notre-Dame de la Roque is just a dot in the middle of the countryside. This chapel is perched atop the rocky outcrop overlooking the confluence of the Durance and Largue. It was given in 1150 to Saint Gilles Abbey by the Bishop of Sisteron, Pierre de Sabran. The apse (curved space plan or polygonal form the end of the chancel of many churches, being Schedule or any part of) is flanked to the north of the remains of an apse (each of the chapels opening on the apse, or the transept) Curiously Romanesque integrated, welded in the new building. South, in the 17th century, there was a chapel to be demolished completed in 1972: it is on the Cassini map of 1778. The chapel was restored there thirty years.
The first Sunday in September takes place the pilgrimage with Mass and dances.
As you climb to the summit, we pass the old wall before reaching the remains of the medieval fortress. The tower built on the rock, is colossal: we dominate the valley (about 580 m) and the village of Volx. An archer (opening in a wall to archery or crossbow) was released. Nearby, was the old village which was abandoned in 1443 in favor of Puychalvert the current village.
