Listed as an historic monument, the Château de la Motte was built in the early sixteenth century (1507), instead of a building of the twelfth and fifteenth centuries. Completely restored, this private property closed to the public has kept its original cylindrical towers.
Also listed as a Historical Monument, the Castle of Cards was in the twelfth century the property of the abbey of Marmoutier. The present castle dates from the eighteenth century and was completely rebuilt by the family of Rüe du Can Champchevrier. Private property, it consists of a central building on two levels and two pavilions.
Partly remodeled in the 16th century, the Saint-Genest church dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries. Romanesque style, it presents beautiful objects classified as a stained glass window of the mid-sixteenth century Annunciation, a statue of Mary Magdalene of the late fifteenth, a bronze bell of the seventeenth or a painting of the seventeenth representing Jesus and Nicomedes.
While strolling in the borough, you will also be able to appreciate the brick music kiosk decorated with foundry slags, the wash-houses of the Saint Genest, or the former Templar chapel now transformed into a farm on Le Gast.
