Located in the heart of the Var, on the road linking Les Arcs to Lorgues, the charming little town of Taradeau attracts visitors. It is nestled in the Florieye valley, not far from Draguignan, Saint-Antonin-du-Var or Roquebrune-sur-Argens.
Formerly known as Taradel, which comes from the root TaR meaning perched rock in the Indo-European language, the commune of Taradeau begins its history in the Iron Age, as evidenced by the remains found on site. Long occupied by the Romans, it subsequently saw the surge of the Barbarians, the Visigoths, the Burgundians, then the Franks. Affected by the Saracens who came from Spain in the 9th century, it suffered a series of pillages and violence over the centuries.
Today, Taradeau is best known for its wine and tourism activity.
