Built in the middle of the 16th century by Anne de Pisseleu, then Duchess of Etampes, the Château de Saint-Ange was one of the architectural jewels of Seine-et-Marne.
Built in Italian fashion, in a style quite similar to that of the old Château de la Muette in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, the Château de Saint-Ange was originally a castle with flat roofs in linking stone which opened on four sides of the garden. Entirely rebuilt at the beginning of the 17th century, it was then a popular hunting spot.
Partly destroyed during the Prussian occupation of 1814, today it only reveals a few vestiges listed as Historic Monuments, including a retaining wall with vases, stairs or even a canal and a pond in the park.
