A very popular culinary speciality, salad comtoise has the advantage of being a complete meal which used to keep peasants going all day.
Salad comtoise is traditionally made of green salad, smoked ham or lardons, Montbéliard or Morteau sausage depending on the place, fried potatoes, comté, tomatoes, walnuts, shredded red cabbage, croutons and of course vinaigrette! Always eaten cold, this dish can be enjoyed as a starter, in small quantities, or as a main course. It is generally greatly appreciated when served with a glass of Jura wine.
