In the footsteps of Jeanne, around Domremy

Depart from the town of Maxey-sur-Meuse, latitude 48.4506900 (N 48° 27’ 2”), longitude 5.6954300 (E 5° 41’ 44”)

• The limestone lawn of the Beauregard plateau

• From the town hall, go to the left of the church (D 19) and continue on the left by the rue du Petit-Village. After the bend, turn left on the road passing the stone monument for about 200 m. Take the sandy path o right. A few meters further, fork on a grassy path to the right, pass near a cross and continue to climb to the chapel of Beauregard (point of view on the valley of the Meuse, the limestone lawn of the plateau of Beauregard is a rare and fragile protected site of exceptional landscape quality).

• The Beauregard Chapel

• On the right of the chapel, follow the ridge of the hill through the woods for more than one kilometer before turning left, then right on a large path to cross the plateau. Ignore a path on the left, then a right before going down to Brixey-aux-Chanoines.

• Brixey-aux-Chanoines

• Continue straight on rue de la Fontaine and turn left at the Fontaine (drinking water point). Go down to the Meuse by the road of Goussaincourt.

• The Brixey Mill

• Continue and cross the Meuse, then fork on the road to the left. Cross the D 164 and go across a path through the fields. At the fork, turn right at the edge of the forest.

• The Bermont Chapel

• At the turn, turn left and reach a crossroads. On the right, to reach the Bermont chapel (Notre-Dame de Bermont, built in the 11th century, is a historic place where Joan of Arc came to pray). In front of the chapel, go down a sandy path on the left to the tarred road; take it on the right. Pass near statues indicating the location of the old church of Greux, then down to the village to reach the current church.

• Greux

• Continue straight to Domremy-la-Pucelle, birthplace of Joan of Arc, and pass in front of her birthplace. Cross the bridge.

• Domremy-la-Pucelle

• Take a path on the left. Cross another bridge and return to the village of Maxey-sur-Meuse.
