Town of New Vienna, region Nova Aquitaine, Beaumont Saint-Cyr takes place about twenty kilometers from Poitiers and its famous park of Futuroscope, near Vouneuil-sur-Vienne, and Lencloître Ouzilly. She was born on 1 January 2017 from the merger of Beaumont and St. Cyr.
Of very ancient origin, the territory served including fortress dismantled under Louis XIV. The town of Beaumont Saint-Cyr is long known for its important agricultural activity, as well as its unique and authentic landscapes that allow to enjoy a stay in green and quiet.
It also has a beautiful architectural and historical heritage that reflects a rich history and old to discover the time of a few days holiday in the area.
Located near the town center of Beaumont, Beaumont tower today is a ruined building. Set among vineyards, is one of the few remnants of the old castle town. The latter was originally composed of a feudal keep destroyed in the course of the eighteenth century. Nearby you can admire a castle mound with a second Romanesque keep today backfilled. Only one corner now remains visible.
Full of charm, the ruined castle of Rouhet is now registered as an historic monument for its square tower with battlements of the sixteenth century. It also has a chapel listed historical monument.
Listed historical monument, the Church of Our Lady was completely rebuilt in the fifteenth century. Romanesque style, it has pillars with capitals, a twelfth-century portal, a stately chapel flamboyant fifteenth century, a gilded wooden tabernacle of the seventeenth or a bell from the same era.
Strolling in the new town, be sure not to admire the castle Beaudiment fifteenth century and restored in the nineteenth, Puy-Chevrier castle of the seventeenth century or the ruins of the former chaplain of pilgrims from Saint Compostela -Jacques on Longève. Castle Beaudiment present including a beautiful funeral chapel of the Madeleine with a crypt and a lying fifteenth century listed historical monument.
Be sure to visit the site of menhir Pierre-Fitte classified as Historical Monuments. The stone, pink sandstone, measuring more than four meters in height and is a rare example of menhir in the department. Joined the mound of Upper Fleet also worth a stop.
Lovers of outdoor walks will enjoy visiting the Moulière forest that stretches over 5,000 hectares or discover the Saint-Cyr park with its 300 hectares of lake dedicated to sport and relaxation. The site offers a lot of entertainment in the summer.
Early July is held the festival of the summer with his intervillages games, the fireworks, the festive meal and dancing.
A Christmas market is offered year-end.
