Nicknamed the city of lace, the common Caudry takes place in the Nord department, region Hauts-de-France. In the heart of Cambrai, it is about ten kilometers from Cambrai and sixty of the regional capital Lille.
Labeled City of Art and History, city and crafts arts and rewarded in the competition of cities and flowered villages of France, Caudry no shortage of charm and interest. Former village turned towards agriculture and weaving, the town has become in a few decades a center of the lace industry. If economic activity is highly diversified in the twentieth and twenty-first century, the weaving industry is still a major employer in the city, providing the biggest names in haute couture worldwide.
Various tourist sites tell the story of lace over the centuries to Caudry, while other monuments testify to the rich architecture of this northern city.
