The Châlette-sur-Loing leisure center is located in the eponymous commune, in the Loiret department, a few kilometers north of Montargis.
The site was developed in the last third of the 20th century to give a new use to old gravel pits.
A park with a 27-hectare body of water between the course of the Loing and the Briare canal, to the north of the town, is now accessible.
In addition to natural spaces planted with trees (tulip trees, cypresses, alders) and suitable for walking and observing sensitive flora and fauna (with barnacle geese, swans, ducks, grebes posh…), several activity centers are available to families and holidaymakers.
In July and August, swimming in 27 degree water is supervised from a 200 m long sandy beach which is also ideal for relaxing.
Water sports are also favored with a sailing club which offers courses or board or catamaran sessions from April to October. It is also possible to rent pedal boats or canoes.
Areas of the lake are also reserved for fishermen (provided you have a card available in several shops in the town) and areas with lawns and groves are dedicated to picnics and games for children.
A restaurant is located in the park, which finally has a green theater with a capacity of several hundred seats which hosts balls, shows, concerts and parties in summer. It is from the lake that the fireworks on July 14 are set off.
The park and the lake are freely accessible all year round to walkers and sportsmen but certain activities are obviously reserved for the summer months…
