Between countryside and urban planning, Cormontreuil in the department of Marne, is only 8 kilometers from Reims. Comfortable and cozy, the city has developed since the year 850, when it appears under the name of then "Curtis Monasteriolis", ie the monastery courtyard.

Initially properties Rheims abbeys, the village lands were given to the people of Cormontreuil after many complaints to Church authorities. Things to see and do

Cormontreuil conceals a remarkable historical and religious heritage. The St. Andrew church dated 1159 and is home to many curiosities particularly well preserved. So you will find a statue of St. Andrew the fifteenth century and a sixteenth century Mary. The windows of the bliss of the Art Deco period are to see as paintings on wood of the thirteenth century, one representing St. Andrew and the other the Crucifixion.

Listed building, the home of Montfort Coquebert is a mansion dating from the seventeenth century. Sheltered behind high stone walls, the house and its portal are simply splendid.

The birthplace of Suzanne Tourte, renowned painter and sculptor, and Dauphinot castle dating back to 1875 and former residence of the Senator-Mayor Jean Dauphinot Reims, worth visiting. Like the homes Saint Francis Xavier and instrument Vesle which were built in the seventeenth century to a bourgeois family. The house was then occupied by the Jesuits for now welcome the elderly. The residences of the park became a public garden.

Cormontreuil is also the headquarters of sports activities for the whole family. Petanque, tennis, dojo, gymnasium, football among others are waiting for sports days and relaxation. The fitness trail the locality "3 Trees" offers the ultimate combination of running and nature.

Events and festivities

In early December, do not miss the bullfight Cormontreuil. Far from the show you expect, it's not bull rampaging through the city, but runners horizon ready to do battle through a circuit in the streets of Cormontreuil. This festive sporting event attracts nearly 1,000 runners each year, most of which dress to participate in this unique race and emphasize the robust look of the event. Come cheer on the runners or participate in this sporting event of great magnitude if you feel the soul of a runner.
