Things to see and do

The castle of Garges was completely demolished in the early 1950s after being heavily damaged during the bombings of 1944. There are still some remains, such as the grid with 18th century stone pillars inscribed in the Historic Monuments. If today the park is loti and occupied of apartment buildings, one can still see an old fountain of origin.

Built in the 13th century, the church of St. Martin was largely redesigned in the 18th century. This last renovation brought classical elements to the interior decoration, and one can admire in particular an altarpiece of the XVIIIe century of Rocaille style classified to the Historic Monuments as an object. In the crypts, there are tunnels and sarcophagi before 1100.

Riding on Stains and Garges-lès-Gonesse, the fort of Stains dates from the second half of the XIXth century. Now disused, it was part of the Séré de Rivières system for the defense of Paris. Entirely invaded by nature, it now serves as a place for walking and games.

As you walk through Garges-lès-Gonesse, be sure to admire the eighteenth-century pavilion of the Garges high school with its neoclassical Italian window or the miller's house of the Paillards mill. You will also be able to discover the main building of the fiefdom of the postern which has been covered since the beginning of the 20th century with millstone stones. It still unveils the two pillars of the original entry.
