At 30 kilometers from Paris, Jouy-le-Moutier draws its features on the right bank of the Oise. The town is part of the new town of Cergy-Pontoise. The territory seems to be occupied since the Neolithic. But the true first trace dates back to the eleventh century attesting to the birth of the village. As for many fiefs of the time, Jouy-le-Moutier is a land given by the reference abbey of the territory. The main activity is agriculture and vineyards. The latter became the main activity, but the wine production declined with the railway transport which did not go to Jouy-le-Moutier. Never mind ! The village rebounds and is oriented towards the fruit culture providing Paris with fresh fruits and varied. It was on 11 August 1972 that everything changed for the village when it was integrated into the new town of Cergy-Pontoise. The village sees its population multiply by 10 and quickly becomes the city that we know today.
