Since that date, on the initiative of Napoleon III, it has housed one of the largest museums Europe, the Museum of National Antiquities, which became the National Archeology Museum in 2005. Inaugurated by Napoleon III in 1867, it now has the largest collection of prehistoric objects in the world, notably with the fascinating Lady with hood!
