The small village of Soirans is located west of the township of Auxonne. It is crossed by the RD905 (Dijon-Dole), the Dijon railway line / Besançon, LGV Rhin-Rhône and the A39 motorway (with toll plaza).
With 442 ha Soirans is a small town, forestry and agriculture (cereals), which has no tourist marked. However the forest, arboretum and its monuments (church, laundry, belfry of the town hall) is a certain appeal.
History: The origins of Soirans our days ... The origins of Soirans back to Roman times, as evidenced by a stela depicting Hercules, found in 1938 in front of the current City Hall. It was not until five centuries later, a group of Germanic invaders, under the direction of a Frodoff, founded a church known since 937 and dedicated to Saint Vincent which bore the name of the founder Fouffrans (transformation Frodoff ). Simultaneously another group attacked the clearing of the forest and built a castle has now disappeared, and a thriving village which nothing remains and whose activity has recently been updated during the construction of the A39 motorway. Excavations carried out in 1991 by a team of archaeologists have unearthed furnaces manufactured tile, brick, ceramics and worked until the High Middle Ages XVIIIth century. This beautiful prosperity disappeared when the two villages and Soirans Fouffrans were razed by the armies of Gallas in 1636. Only the church, the main part dates from the 17th century, and a dozen houses were rebuilt. Some there added a century later, when the States of Burgundy decided to create the royal road, highway became, then county, joining Dijon Franche-Comté.
