Vaux-le-Pénil

The present building of the castle dates from the eighteenth century Vaux-le-Pénil. It takes place on the site of an ancient castle and a Renaissance chateau. Listed as a historic monument, it has hosted such Tsar Alexander I in the fall of the Empire, or Joffre at the Battle of the Marne in the First World War. After hosting a museum of surrealism in the 1970s, the castle is again open Vaux-le-Pénil today the public, including presenting collections of autographs and historical documents revolving around the building. One can admire six salons of the eighteenth century and medieval rooms of the seventeenth century, or a Guardroom which served as the headquarters for Henry IV. In the park with old chestnut trees, an orange grove and a chapel of the eleventh century, as well as lawn with statues.

Owned by the city of Melun, but located in the municipality of Vaux-le-Pénil, Faucigny-Lucinge park is a beautiful over ten hectare wooded park that has particularly wild orchids, and a redwood three meters in circumference.

The Church of St. Peter and Saint Paul was built in the thirteenth century, in place of a former chapel.

Farm Games, housed in a renovated farmhouse, offers several entertainment with a label Arthouse cinema and a theater.

Vaux-le-Pénil The market takes place every Sunday morning.

In April, Sow your seed festival offers various musical and civic and environmental talks.

The spring garage sale is held in early June.

In July, the festival A vent Melun, dedicated to brass bands, offers a few shows in the municipality of Vaux-le-Pénil.

In October, the fall instead attic.

A Christmas market is held by year's end.
