Village south of the Black Perigord, in Bastide Country and medieval towns on the border of the Lot and Lot-et-Garonne.
The confines of Perigord, Quercy and high Agen, the bastide Villefranche-du-Périgord, ordered by Alphonse de Poitiers, brother of St. Louis, was founded by William the Seneschal of Barriol and received its charter franchise in 1261. After many vicissitudes, through wars and religious events, she arrived as we know at the dawn of the 21st century.
